Product Overview
The CA901 144-901-000-621 piezoelectric accelerometer is designed to measure mechanical vibration in equipment exposed to very high or very low temperatures. The sensor uses a VC2 single-crystal sensing element working in compression mode. When the equipment vibrates, the sensing element produces an electrical charge related to the acceleration it experiences. This charge output allows the monitoring system to measure vibration without placing active electronic components inside the sensor itself.
The CA901 is a charge-output sensor, not a standard 4–20 mA transmitter. It needs a suitable charge converter or compatible measurement input to turn the sensor signal into data that can be recorded and analyzed. The sensor has an integrated two-core mineral-insulated cable. This cable construction is suited to demanding temperature conditions and helps carry the signal from the sensing element to the connected equipment. The sensor also has an electrically insulated case and a sealed metal housing, features that support use in applications where electrical isolation and resistance to moisture or corrosion matter.
